What We Believe
Dr. Joey White was raised in a Southern Baptist Church and graduated from two Southern Baptist Seminaries (Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX and Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, TN). He has served over 25 years in full time ministry as a youth pastor, senior pastor, and church planting pastor. Throughout his ministry experience, Joey gained a greater appreciation of the beauty in the different denominations within the Body of Christ. As many great leaders have said, “It takes all kinds of churches to reach all kinds of people.” The two most fundamental beliefs that Joey and our REM Churches share are these:
JESUS.
Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God. Jesus is the only way to be saved from our sins, and He is our only hope for heaven.
*Practically, we follow Jesus and all His teachings because He is our Savior and Lord.
THE BIBLE.
God’s Word is perfect and without error. The Bible is trustworthy and true because it is God’s Word. The Bible is our sole source of authority.
*Practically, if the Bible says it, we believe it, and we believe it is available to us today.
Joey has found that if a church misses these two beliefs, they have missed it all. He also understands that we can disagree about most of the other areas of theology and still love one another and work side-by-side in ministry. If you are going to heaven, we will work with you here on earth, because we will spend all eternity worshiping together in heaven.
As far as other doctrines of our Christian faith, REM Churches would be described as conservative in beliefs and open to trying new strategies of reaching people as Scripture permits.
